Arielle Burke, Flute

Praised for her “full-bodied and dulcet” sound, flutist Arielle Burke performs regularly in the greater Boston area. As a musician of the East Coast Scoring Orchestra, she has had the privilege of recording large-scale orchestral works and chamber pieces in a wide range of musical styles.  She also enjoys performing as a member of the Tedesco Duo, an ensemble she formed with guitarist Catherine O’Kelly in order to bring the diverse repertoire of flute and guitar music to a wider audience. Arielle is the principal flutist of the Waltham Symphony Orchestra.

 

In 2015, Arielle completed her master’s degree in flute performance at The New England Conservatory under the instruction of Renee Krimsier.  She received her Bachelor of Music from The Hartt School of Music, Dance, and Theater in May of 2013 where she studied with Janet Arms.  There, she earned the Solomon Elsner Award for academic achievement and was named a 2012-2013 Presser Scholar, an honor she received for her excellence in music and academic merit. She has performed in masterclasses with Carol Wincenc, the New York Woodwind Quintet, Mario Caroli, John Heiss, Gwyn Roberts, Christopher Krueger, and Eugenia Zukerman.

 

In addition to her active performing career, Arielle maintains a studio of young flute and piccolo students in the greater Hartford and Boston areas.

Molly Jo Rivelli, Soprano

Soprano Molly Jo Rivelli, has impressed audiences throughout New England with “one, incredible voice and great stage presence.”   Her recent operatic performances include singing with the Fine Arts Chorale and Orchestra as Lucia in excerpts from Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor.   Ms. Rivelli also premiered the role of Constance for Granite State Opera in the world premiere of Oscar, a new opera by composer Thomas Oboe Lee.  Ms. Rivelli has performed frequently with Raylynmor Opera in roles such as Donna Anna in Don Giovanni,  Micaela in Carmen and as Violetta in La Traviata .  Additional roles with Raylynmor Opera include Countess in Le Nozze di Figaro, Rosina in The Barber of Seville, and Adina in L’elisire d’amore.

 

Singing many times with Boston Lyric Opera, Ms. Rivelli portrayed the role of Bianca in their production of La Rondine. Additional opera roles include Frasquita in Carmen with Granite State Opera, Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance with Opera Providence, Adele in Die Fledermaus with Longwood Opera, and both Sandman and Dew Fairy in Hansel and Gretel with Opera New England.  An active recitalist,  Ms. Rivelli has sung numerous times for “Friends of the Marlborough Public Library” series and Opera Providence, programming varied repertoire covering Opera, Baroque, Music Theatre, and the American Songbook.

 

Ms. Rivelli’s various concert performances include Handel’s Messiah with the Nashua Symphony, Mozart’s Requiem with the Waltham Philharmonic and the Wellesley Choral Society, both the world premier of Requiem for September 11 by Germani and Handel’s Messiah with the Scituate Choral Arts Society Orchestra, and the Poulenc Gloria with Central Congregational Orchestra. 

 

 A long-time teacher, she is the owner of MJ’s Music School in Waltham, MA, where she teaches voice and piano.  She is also the Opera/Classical Vocal Instructor and co-Choral director at the Boston Arts Academy for the Boston Public Schools.  In addition to preparing students for entrance to various music conservatories and operatic careers, Molly Jo is passionate about early music education and working with students of all levels. She has spent years working on ways to adapt standard teaching methods to use successfully with students with disabilities, especially those with Autism Spectrum Disorders.

We are 14 years old.  We are currently studying 9th Grade in St. Joseph Prep, Boston, MA.

We are gifted by being lovely twins complementing each other in various aspects.  One such example is that our interest in music. We have been active members of  the music ministry (Youth Scola) at Our Lady's Church in Waltham for the past 6 years. We enjoy being part of the music ministry. 

We have been long time (since 2007) students of MJ Music School, Waltham learning music instruments/voice.  To further enhance our music talent we are also taking part in Ensemble/Orchestral music programs in New England Music Conservatory Boston, since 2013.

We otherwise love reading books, baking,  playing volleyball and learning about different cultures. God willing, we both aim to become doctors as well as a professional musician when we grow up . 

We are grateful to all our music teachers especially Mr. Patrick Botti and Mrs. Molly Jo Rivelli (who helped to project our voice) for what we have learned in music through their skillful guidance.

Lily Massa, Soprano

ily Massa is a 14 year-old student at Waltham High School who has been singing for ten years.

She studies classical and chamber chorus and piano at New England Conservatory Preparatory School, and also trains locally in voice and piano at MJ’s Music School.

Lily is dedicated to many services that leverage her skills, including cantoring every weekend and during special masses at Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Parish in Waltham, and performing at numerous charity events.

She has extensive experience and a multi-genre repertoire for her age, having performed in choral festivals, concerts at Jordan Hall, festivals, and theater productions, where she most recently played ‘Belle’ in Beauty in the Beast at Kennedy Middle School.

Lily wants to continue to expand her musical training through high school and then attend college with a concentration in Business Administration and Vocal Studies.

Thomas Mark Fallon, Director Our Lady's Academy and Our Lady Parish's Combined Children's Choir

Thomas Mark Fallon, Director of our Children’s Choir this evening began his work here in Waltham with this Choir in 2016 while serving as the Music Teacher for the 335 Students attending Our Lady’s Academy and serving as Choirmaster for the 9:00 AM Sunday Family Mass at Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Catholic Parish.

A scholarship graduate of both the New England Conservatory of Music and Notre Dame University he holds both Bachelor and Masters Degrees in Vocal Performance and Liturgical Studies.

An accomplished Countertenor Vocal Artist, Mr. Fallon has sung all over the world in performances of Opera, Oratorio and Concert. The holder of numerous prizes in International Vocal Competitions he is also a highly sought after private vocal teacher, clinician and Artist in Residence and maintains a private vocal studio for singers of all voice types and ages in nearby Arlington.

A guest soloist with ever major choral group throughout greater Boston he has served as Director of Music and Liturgy at St. Peter’s in Cambridge, St. Joseph’s in Kalamazoo, Michigan and nearby at both Sacred Heart Parish and Youville Place Chapel in Lexington.

   The combined Our Lady’s Academy and Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Parish Children’s Choir in Waltham

The combined Our Lady’s Academy and Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Parish Children’s Choir in Waltham is a very active choir of young singers.

Their membership is made up of forty two talented boys and girls in grades one through seven who truly enjoy singing and bringing joy to their varied audiences.

Their repertoire is made up of sacred, contemporary, praise, liturgical, patriotic, holiday and musical theater selections.

Full of joy and enthusiasm they are a “growing choir” both in their membership, repertoire and ability. Recent performances include singing at the Archdiocesan Pastoral Center as the host choir for the Catholic Schools celebration of World Missions, singing for the North Senior Citizens Club and being featured this coming week in a special Christmas concert, THE SPIRIT OF THE SEASON at Our Lady’s Academy.

Amy Dinsmore, Oboe

Amy Dinsmore is a graduate of The Boston Conservatory.

She earned a Masters Degree in Music from Smith College

Ms. Dinsmore has extensive performing experience in orchestras, chamber ensembles and recitals. She has appeared as a guest soloist with the New Hampshire Philharmonic, the Lakes Region Symphony (NH) and the Holyoke Civic Symphony (MA). 

Ms. Dinsmore has played with orchestras such as the Delaware Symphony, Annapolis Symphony, Nashua Symphony, and Thayer Symphony.  She is currently principal oboist with the Waltham Symphony Orchestra, and maintains a private teaching studio.
